Essential Responsibilities

  • Administration and enforcement of appropriate safety and work rules.
  • Quality assurance for all aspects of manufacture of product, including raw materials, workmanship and finished product.
  • Optimize finishing and other manufacturing processes.
  • Schedule and manage workflow and utilize personnel to accomplish the plant's business objectives.
  • Manage all inventories (raw material, finished goods, and operating supplies).
  • Personnel development - determines and facilitates training needs.
  • Assist department head and plant superintendent and others with the analysis and improvement of plant operations.
  • Directs safety program activities for specific area and crew
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specificatons
  • Be able to verify and correct the set up and adjustment of machinery
  • Inspect epuipment for potential problems and solutions to problems
  • Follow up on reoccurring down time issues and elimination of them. Required down time analysis completed on all down time over 30 minutes
  • Monitor and maintain inventories of operating supplies to plant operating budget
  • Able to work all shifts as required
  • Interpret company policies and procedures to workers and enforces same
  • Communicate with other supervisors and management to achieve company standards and production requirements
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the departments
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve company standards and goals
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Have a working knowledge of all equipment used and activities performed by employees
  • Hold employees accountable to departmental and machine center goals and expectations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Five years quality control and/or supervisory experience a plus.
  • One year wood products experience – softwood plywood (sanded and siding)
  • Working knowledge of all plywood operations and associated equipment is desirable.
  • PC operation and experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability and desire to advance to higher levels of supervision.
  • Ability to coach and lead a diverse workforce.
