General Description:
The Regional Safety Manager acts primarily in a health and safety support role for Roseburg Forest Products operations located within their region. Regional Safety Managers report to the Corporate Safety Director and service and respond to all questions and issues that arise from all Roseburg businesses, offices, and operations in their assigned region. The focus of the Regional Safety Manager is developing a deep level of knowledge of all operations within their assigned areas, developing relationships with all business partners, while working to close gaps and promote proactive efforts in achieving our company safety vision of Zero to The Core. Each Regional Safety Manager is also designated as the single-point-of-contact (SPOC) for one or more businesses. In this role they provide leadership and overall coordination and communications for consistency working within their assigned business throughout all regions.

Regional Safety Managers also have varying amounts of company level responsibilities and these needs must be balanced and prioritized alongside SPOC duties and regional needs. Travel primarily within their assigned region is expected 60% of the time with some out of region travel for cross over support or annual meetings.

Regional Safety Managers are the expert resource for all Roseburg staff in their region. They must have a service orientated drive and be capable and committed to supporting the needs of their customers. They must be able to daily demonstrate our company core values through their actions and interactions. They must have a personal drive for results, based on the need and desire to care for our employees. Regional Safety Managers are required to have 8 + years of experience managing safety in multiple locations, a minimum of a B.S. Degree in an Occupational Safety and Health related program, and additional training/certifications that demonstrate they are proficient in the common safety issues managed in manufacturing.

Corporate Governance:

Provide oversight for company safety processes and activities. Improve compliance with regulations and company standards. Develop company-level programs as part of Corporate Safety while advocating practical and applicable policies and expectations.
Review, update, and maintain corporate policies
Develop company-level best practices
Solicit and advocate business input for corporate-level programs and participate in development and implementation
Review and develop health and safety training material
Conduct Health and Safety audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented at assigned time frames
Review and update audit tools utilized company wide
Analyze/review company injury records to ensure compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements
Provide expert support for litigation efforts as part of Roseburg team

Single Point of Contact for Business Leader:
Proactively engage business lead teams (Industrial Products, Structural Products, Transportation/Distribution, Resources) in achieving business safety goals
Assist in developing annual safety plans for the business.
Monitor progress of plan implementation and report back to the business Director/VP on a periodic basis.
Identify and communicate significant hazards within the business and intervenes as needed to mitigate risks.
Identify and provide guidance on proactive methods/programs to achieve significant safety improvement.
Support the incident review process at the site level and business level (Sharing Safety Alerts, conducting 48 hour and 7-day incident review process).
When there are strategic activities that will be implemented business wide, serve as the primary point of contact for all sites and direct regional resources to verify implementation as needed.
Develops strong working relationships with business, regional, and site leadership.
Participate as a member of the business leadership team, at the discretion of the business VP/Director.
Stay abreast of and keep business/area/site leadership apprised of changes or pending changes in health and safety regulations, emphasis programs or enforcement policies.
May serve on industry specific associations as a representative for Roseburg

Regional Support:

Provide support services, meeting the needs of businesses and business leaders
Support provided regionally on priority activities (Incident investigations, auditing, training, hazard evaluations, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health support, etc.) as requested by Business and site level leadership
Provide support as requested in the following areas:
- Counsel site leaders on strategic health and safety issues.
- Responding to health and safety questions/concerns from the sites withian the region.
- Assists with selection and development of site safety staff; participates in safety staff reviews
- Provide routine training as requested/scheduled to various teams within their region
Provide routine feedback on status of regulatory compliance by performing regular inspection and audits of sites physical conditions, behaviors and work practices
