Summary:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all administrative and maintenance operations, including staff and service administration. The incumbent must effectively and efficiently manage the development and direction of the operational team to drive the growth of revenue and technical productivity. He/she must ensure that all departments under his/her control are compliant with all applicable legislation, including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety and Ontario Electrical Safety Regulations. This individual must supply critical information to the Plant Manager concerning financial matters in addition to leading his/her team in the achievement of company objectives.

  • Responsible for the financial accountability of the operations and maintenance department budgets
  • Provide planning and forecasting to allow for the adequate approvals for the departments under their control
  • Provide support and expert opinion to subordinates and to management as needed
  • Prepare and monitor P&L department budgets to ensure department is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve corporate performance
  • Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary
  • Setting appropriate priorities for preventive maintenance
  • Analyze and report on the daily, monthly and annually department's key performance indicators and industry trends
  • Develop and implement strategies around improving the financial performance of the department.
  • Examine reports (e.g. inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the company and ensure optimum performance
  • Ensure safety is made a priority and that compliance and safety procedures are in place and followed to avoid any accidents or incidents
  • Ensure employees adhere to company policies, procedures and all Health & Safety regulations
  • Manage staffing levels, work schedules and job assignments
  • Ensure that new employees are trained and oriented as appropriate for their new positions; perform follow-up sessions to ensure proper fit within the company
  • Resolve people issues appropriately in a timely manner and engages appropriate resources (HR, site leadership) when needed
  • Ensure adequate skill depth in team by analyzing strengths and opportunities of the team, and implementing development plans to strengthen the team's performance
  • Ensure all assigned tasks are completed safely and efficiently
  • Ensure employees are updating and maintaining maintenance information, files, warranties and work orders
  • Responsible for the completion and retention of the following reports and others not listed; service reports, preventive maintenance, technical reports, insurance reports, service agreements, energy reports, fire plans, contingency plans and standard operating procedure
  • Assist with energy solutions and make suggestions for the energy consumption
  • Keep current with technological changes and any governmental regulations changed regarding the chemicals used in the performance of the maintenance duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' degree in engineering or related technical field preferred and/or equivalent work experience considered
  • 5+ years' previous management experience in a technical environment
  • 5+ years' experience in a maintenance leadership role
  • Project management experience
